Updates for Our Families

Important Update 11/17/2020

Dear St. Thomas Aquinas Distance Learning Program Families,

This November marks my ninth year in relationship with the Diocese of Brooklyn as an educator and the thirteenth year as a parent invested in our Catholic schools. Over this time, I have had the opportunity to see the Diocese move forward in so many progressive and exciting ways and I have been proud to witness these successes. In early August, when I signed on as the founding principal of the St. Thomas Aquinas Distance Learning Program, I was so excited for the mission and vision for the school and together over the past months, we have created together the foundation and plans on which to build the future of Catholic education in the Diocese and beyond!

I am proud to have been a part of the early development of this program and truly believe in its potential to serve our families across the nation in providing a robust virtual Catholic education. I am equally as proud to have been a part of recruiting and developing a dynamic teaching staff who have embraced the hard work of initiating innovation in education. I also want to note the exceptional hard work, support and commitment that the entire leadership team has shown in bringing the vision of this program into fruition. I am truly honored to have served with each one of you over this time.

For personal and professional reasons, I am sharing with you my intention to step aside from my role of principal and make way for new leadership that can continue to realize the potential we have prepared for and bring this program forward for the future. I am happy to include a letter attached to this email introducing Dr. Haessler, who has been working with us over the last two weeks to transition into the role of principal. This Friday will be my last day with the program.

I truly believe in the vision of the school and I want to see the St. Thomas Aquinas Distance Learning Program emerge in the future as a model among Catholic schools throughout the Diocese and the nation. It has been my privilege every day to work for and serve the children and youth who attend our schools and you, their families who trust us to do our work well. Thank you for this opportunity to serve with you. I feel truly blessed to have had this time together and wish you all a blessed and healthy year ahead!

God Bless,

Manuela Adsuar-Pizzi
